Welcome to my Mission Blog!
For the next two years I will be known simply as Elder Norris. I have chosen to devote this portion of my life to serve and honor my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ as a missionary for His Church. I will spend it away from my family and friends that I love, and activities I enjoy. I am making a choice between good and better.
The choice to serve a mission was mine, entirely. I have prepared and planned on doing so since I was a young child. The Church does not pay me to serve. My mission is funded completely through the sacrifice of me, my family, and the support of friends that wish to contribute to my mission.
I did not get to choose where I was to serve. When I completed my paperwork, I checked the box that said I would like to learn a new language, and I checked the box that said I would be willing to serve outside of the U.S. But I always said, “I will go where ever the Lord calls me…and someplace where it snows.” That place happened to be in the Washington D.C. North Mission! So far, I’ve just see a lot of rain, and discovered that my coat that says it’s “waterproof” is, in fact, operating under a delusion of grandeur.
If you would like to know more of what a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does, please visit this link that will tell you all about the Missionary Work I am doing, and why.
Also, if you happen to come in contact with the missionaries, allow them to share a message with you, perform an act of service, or simply just be kind to them. They have left their familiar lives at home to teach others a glad message, and invite all to come unto Christ. “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
I hope that through my experiences you will be able to feel the Spirit touch your heart, and want to learn more about Jesus Christ.
